* Le Cheminant (meaning The Wanderer) was first established in 1847 at Wimpole Street, London by a John Le Cheminant who owned a jewellers shop at this address. At this time Le Cheminant was among several companies which supplied precision timepieces to the British Royal Navy. In 1909 and 1915 the Royal Navy bought chronometers that saw service on HMS Dido and HMS Titania respectively. The company was bought in 1957  and branches began appearing in cities such as Norwich, Leicester and Bristol. in 2007 the company was again bought and still operated in the manufacture and sale of watches albeit on a smaller scale. To date it is unsure if the company is still operating.
