* Chronographe Suisse were not so much a brand as a supplier of inexpensive “generic” chronograph watches and parts for brands to adopt and add their name. Even local jewellers branded these watches as their own. The company was trading at its peak during the 1940s through to the late 60s and used the Landeron 48 manual wind chronograph movement extensively, along with Venus and Valjoux calibres. These watches were adopted by companies to brand themselves so many Chronographe Suisse watches available today will often have slightly unusual and obscure names written underneath the Chronograph Suisse name, like LEA for example.

* Aside from the slightly obscure history of this Swiss manufacturer, the watches produced were well made, reliable and although not in a similar league to other high-end Swiss brands, still produced lovely looking watches which stand the test of time. This particular model can be dated to the 1950s and features an attractive copper coloured dial, Arabic numerals and fitted with the Landeron 48 manual wind chronograph movement with the unusual addition of the bottom pusher stopping and resetting the chrono hand. The 36.5mm case is base metal with a stainless steel case-back and the watch uses a domed plexi-glass. Any information on the name "LEA" appears to be lost in the mists of Swiss history!

* This watch comes in excellent mechanical order having undergone a full service. Aesthetic condition is fair (6/10). The watch comes with a brand new Hirsch strap fitted and comes with a 12-month warranty.
