Hercules

The history of Hercules watches dates back to the early 1950s when Henzi & Pfaff; a Pforzheim based watchmaker created a new brand aimed and marketed towards the pursuit of sports and recreation. Most notably, in 1953 Hercules watches equipped Austrian mountaineer Herman Buhl and his entire expedition crew on their famous ascent of Nanga Parabat, making him and his crew the first to ever achieve this remarkable feat. The successful ascent and the worldwide attention of the expedition were marketed effectively by Henzi & Pfaff and, as a result, Henzi & Pfaff equipped further expeditions with watches and thus developed the image of a reliable, robust and at the same time sporty watch.

Like many mechanical watch manuafacturers in the 1970's, sales dropped and eventually the company folded but has now, for the first time been relaunched under the guidance of Adriaan Trampe with watches influenced by the brand's past but rooted firmly in modern manufacturing techniques, offering Swiss, in-house, Chronometer certified movements and beautiful frosted dial designs.
