* For some time, Orion was only available with a manual winding movement, since only a very thin movement would fit into its elegantly domed stainless steel case. Nomos' new neomatik calibers have now upgraded the watch to an automatic timepiece and a date function has made the still super-slender Orion grow to a diameter of 41 millimeters and available in this elegant midnight blue dial colour.
* In all NOMOS calibers, the date ring is placed around the movement to keep movement thickness to a minimum. In neomatik date (caliber DUW 6101), this caliber is particularly large. The first neomatik caliber with a date mechanism, it remains wonderfully slender. The date display can be made even clearer, and is particularly legible.

Nomos was founded in the small town of Glashütte in eastern Germany just after the fall of the Berlin wall. Even though the market was demanding Quartz, Nomos took a chance and focused on producing purely mechanical watches.
Today, Nomos Glashütte is one of only a handful of watch companies to call themselves a manufactory, meaning it is a company which develops and constructs its own movements rather than buying in movements from other companies.
Nomos live by the ethos ‘Deutscher Werkbund’, which means good design affordable for the many.
