* Silva: the Latin word for forest describes the origin of Hanhart's new model, which now compliments the PIONEER collection from this historic watch and clock manufacturer based in the Black Forest, in the picturesque town of Gütenbach, Germany. With a diameter of 38.5 mm and a case height of 10 mm, Silva is a perfect daily wearer and with a design reduced to the essentials, sleek and flat. The uncluttered dial combines modern design with classic elements.
* The PIONEER Silva is based on a model from the company’s own museum, the historical model Kal 36/39, named after the Hanhart Kaliber 36/39 with 15 jewels, served as a simple and clean historical template. The basic design was interpreted in a modern way and with a more contemporary look. The clean dial and straight-line hands offer perfect readability and the distinctive dots between the numerals were taken from the historical model. As with other PIONEER models, Hanhart uses the historical logo on the dial of the PIONEER Silva.

Tradition and Expertise since 1882.
Hanhart first began trading on July 1st 1882 when Swiss watchmaker Johann A. Hanhart opened a watch shop in Diessenhofen, north-east Switzerland. The company quickly re-located to Schwenningen, southern Germany in 1902 and found instant success in 1924 with their first affordable, mechanical stopwatch. By 1938, Hanhart were a pioneer in the production of mechanical chronograph wristwatches, designed for pilots and by the 1960s had also moved into fine timing for sports events and motor racing.
Today, Hanhart still produce a varied range of wristwatches and fine timing stopwatches, tapping into their rich heritage of mechanical watchmaking know-how to produce pieces of incredible craftmanship and functional good looks.
